Lack of knowledge and time are the main barriers towards the adoption of agroecological practices in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam
Farmers in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam are interested in agroecology, but many say they do not know enough about the practices or do not have the time to apply them. (SAMPLE DATA โ for training only)
Main message of the chart
The chart shows the share of surveyed farmers who named each barrier as a main reason for not adopting agroecological practices. Lack of knowledge is the most frequently cited barrier in all three countries, followed by lack of time and labour. Financial constraints and the absence of markets for agroecological products are mentioned less often but remain important, especially in Lao PDR.
Implications of the findings
Extension services and farmer field schools should focus on practical, hands-on training. Practices that save labour, and support for farmer groups to share work, could make adoption easier for households with limited time.
